Please note that for optimal performance on modern hardware you need to
use 64-bit builds of John the Ripper. Of the Sunfreeware packages found
in here, these are available for SPARC/Solaris 8-10 and x86/Solaris 10.

The patched/ directory contains a build of John the Ripper with the
jumbo patch (adding lots of extra functionality). This build was made by
